Athine has long been told she was the chosen one. Only problem is she doesn’t want to be chosen for anything; she wants her own adventures. She gets her chance when she learns that her new powers allow her to kill other immortals.
Follow Athine from the beginning as she learns about her heritage and being an immortal born. See how she interacts with some notable immortals such as Zeus, Hera, Odin, and Morrigan. Learn about the origins of the vampire and what happened to the dragons!
This edition is one that contains all three “Athine Verses” stories under one title.
TR: Good morning, Shannon! Can’t tell you how thrilled I am to finally get you on with me. How are ya?
SM: Doing fine, Thomas…and thanks very much for having me 🙂
TR: It’s my pleasure, I assure you. Let’s get it going. How old were you when you wrote your first piece?
SM: I have been writing something for as long as I remember. I used to write small stories and illustrate them to “sell” to my family members. I usually got paid in Barbie dolls. My first real story did not come until much later in my art career.
TR: Sounds like you had a pretty good racket going 🙂 So, what was the first real story?
SM: The Secret of Genetic Corp X and it is a sci-fi based novella.
TR: And what was the reason for writing that?
SM: I just had this idea for an opening line and decided to write it. It took a great long time, but I did it and others really liked it.
TR: They all start with that first line, don’t they? What have you written since then?
SM: My Daughter of Ares Chronicles which I am still working on. I also keep publishing poetry books. Erosion of the Heart just got an overhaul and new poetry added.
TR: From fantasy to poetry. Now, that’s an intriguing combination. So tell us, what was the inspiration for your upcoming book?
SM: My soon to be released book was something I came up with while writing Athine Verses: The Blood Sisters where my Daughter of Ares books will intersect with The Secret of Genetic Corp X. Worlds Collide is in the editing stages. After I got done with that I started writing a spin off that will follow the storyline from this novella. Zarra the Vampire Hunter: Cursed Bloods
TR: Nice! Tell us a little about it, and where it will be available.
SM: Sorry, top secret. I will tell you that it picks up where the third book left off. You will definitely need to read all of my books to figure out what is going on. I hope to have it out soon. My other books can be found at amazon.com/author/shannonmcroberts
TR: Ah well, I tried 🙂 But okay, fair enough….now, is there a particular place or setting where you get your writing ideas?
SM: No, they just come to me. Sometimes I dream things. But usually it’s when I’m writing or thinking. I always keep paper or my cell phone handy to write down ideas.
TR: Great idea 🙂 So, you’re an indie writer. What made you choose independent publishing?
SM: I’m an independent kind of gal and I like the freedoms that independent publishing gives. I found out about Lulu.com when I got out of college and I was like ok I can publish my poetry book. Then I did a few art books over at Blurb.com…then I started writing novellas.
TR: Independence is a wonderful thing, isn’t it? So, if you had to choose the most important element in an author’s platform, what would it be?
SM: I’m not sure. Advertising I think. Getting people to look at your stuff, talk about your stuff.
TR: Very good. What mistakes have you made in regards to publishing and marketing your work, and what will you do differently in the future?
SM: I have made lots and lots of mistakes. Some I don’t even know that I have made. I tend to be too quick to do stuff so I am trying to slow things down and research some more.
TR: It’s tempting to do otherwise, but slow and steady is usually best. Don’t worry about it…I think most of us tend to rush when it comes to getting things done. So, past what you’ve described, do you have any further writing plans?
SM: Not above what I’m writing now. Every time I think I am done I have an idea though, so I’m sure there will be something!
TR: I’m sure of that. Shannon, it was a true pleasure having you on today. All my best for both you and your writing 🙂
SM: Thanks much, Thomas….it was fun!
Okay, folks. Shannon has a bunch of good stuff out there. Why not drop by her page and have a look?
Tune in Thursday, when I talk with Paige Singleton and “Diary of a Dieting Madhouse”.
