In the year 1990 July 16, I remembered vividly at a very young age how the killer earthquake tore the city down and killed thousands. It was a tragic moment painted in my memory from that day to this very moment. I will never forget that feeling and knowing that when everything was falling apart and there was nowhere to run.

Wave bye-bye, Jerry

Today, Jerry Sandusky was sentenced to 30 – 60 years in prison for his atrocious actions on children over the past few decades. As a Penn State alumnus, I can fully appreciate the complete mayhem caused by the discovery of his heinous acts, and am saddened and shocked at the rapid fall from favor that the school has faced as a result. One of my idols while growing up was Joe Paterno, and to see him reduced to a shell of himself over his last days was difficult to watch. And yes, I’m aware he was culpable to a degree, but I fully believe that he was punished far too severely, and the school is taking far too many measures against his memory. 

That highly debated point aside, we can all be thankful that in this instance, justice has prevailed, and a beast who spent his life victimizing the innocent just saw his last glimpse of daylight.
